Ava. Like a film star in late 1960s Monaco. Glamorous and assured, with that effortlessness that feels both rare and natural.
The AVA Kaftan is cut in a cocoon silhouette with a belt to shape the waist. The fabric is a cotton/silk blend, handwoven exclusively for us on traditional looms as part of a long standing women’s weaving initiative in India, dedicated to preserving heritage techniques and supporting financial independence through craft. It originates from a classic sari weave, thoughtfully reinterpreted for this garment.
Each length begins as individual threads, carefully prepared and set on the loom. The weaving is slow and exacting, producing cloth with structure and softness, and the natural luminosity of silk balanced by the breathability of cotton. Gold lines are woven precisely where we envisioned them, bringing intention and balance to the movement of the piece.
Once woven, the fabric is hand dyed using shibori techniques by master artisans. The pattern is shaped, bound and dipped entirely by hand, using natural dyes such as onion peels and true indigo.
There is quiet drama in the way it moves, the soft sheerness through the shoulders and hem catching the light. The gold edging sits on the inside for a subtle flash. It comes with a 100 per cent mulberry silk slip that feels extraordinary against the skin and can also be worn on its own.
For gala evenings and long lunches that drift into dusk. A perfectly mixed Negroni, oversized sunglasses, terrace light.
Or beachside on a Sunday morning, brunch with friends, a quiet film at home and a glass of Chardonnay.
Wherever you choose to wear her, Ava does not enter a room. She arrives.
